A Stolen Life
Evelyn Ross's eyes were icy cold.
A wicked smile played on her lips.
She radiated an aura that warned others to keep their distance.
This world had never given her a sense of belonging.
As a child, Isabella Ashcroft led others in isolating and bullying her.
After moving out of the Ashcroft residence, she became even more solitary.
She never cared about the stares and gossip from others.
The online abuse and the pointing fingers in real life couldn't stir a ripple in her heart.
So even if she hit someone and got骂上 trending topics, she didn't care at all!
She took a step forward.
A fierce戾气 erupted around her.
The reporters immediately raised their cameras.
They were ready to capture her violent act.
Just then!
A deep, authoritative voice rang out. "Stop!"
Evelyn paused her movement.
She looked downstairs.
Alexander Vance stood there in a custom-tailored suit.
Handsome features were etched with anger.
He waved his hand.
Bodyguards behind him immediately surged forward, separating the reporters.
The narrow staircase was instantly crowded.
The bodyguards all looked fierce and intimidating.
The reporters and Linda Lowell turned pale with fear.
Ethan Young swallowed hard. "Mr. Vance, what are you..."
Alexander's gaze was cold and stern. "I suspect you are illegally restricting Miss Ross's freedom."
Ethan explained guiltily, "We were just conducting a normal interview..."
"Normal?" Alexander scoffed. "Tell that to my legal team."
He picked up Evelyn's suitcase.
He took her wrist and led her downstairs.
This time, no one dared to stop them.
Walking out of the building, sunlight bathed them.
It dispelled the gloom in her heart.
Evelyn looked up at the blinding sunlight.
Her tone was indifferent. "You shouldn't have come. I could handle it."
Alexander said gravely, "You hit someone. You'll be骂."
"I don't care."
"But you shouldn't be骂."
Evelyn was slightly taken aback.
She was used to being骂.
Used to being alone.
Used to putting up all her defenses.
She never expected someone to say such words to her.
The coldness around her gradually dissipated.
She suddenly let out a low laugh.
Alexander asked, "What's so funny?"
"Liam Lowell must be in a worse state than me right now."
Evelyn looked up, her usual飒爽self returning. "He's about to break..."
As long as Liam went to confront Isabella, she could get evidence of his murder.
Make him reveal the secret Leo Lowell took to his grave.
They reached the Bentley.
The car door opened, revealing Eleanor Vance's kindly face.
The old lady's eyes fell on their clasped hands.
Her eyes lit up. "You've improved, you rascal!"
Evelyn only then realized her hand was still being held.
She quickly pulled her hand back.
Her wrist felt burning hot.
Eleanor said with a smile, "Granddaughter-in-law, I'm here to take you home."
"Home?"
"Yes!" The old lady's eyes sparkled. "I've had enough of the hospital. You can't stay here now. Come back to the Vance residence with me."
Evelyn was about to refuse.
Eleanor immediately sighed. "If you don't come, I'll have to keep staying in the hospital..."
Alexander spoke up. "Miss Ross, reporters are everywhere. Only the Vance residence can guarantee your safety."
Evelyn nodded helplessly. "Alright."
"Wonderful! Granddaughter-in-law, let's go home!"
The car drove into Beverly Hills.
It took ten minutes of driving to reach the Vance gate.
Evelyn was once again amazed by the grandeur of this estate.
No wonder Isabella was so determined to marry in and become its mistress.
They got out at the parking lot and entered the living room.
Isabella was trying to please Julian Evans. "Julian, don't be angry. I've already apologized to the Roland family..."
Julian looked upset.
Seeing Evelyn, he stood up abruptly. "Evelyn Ross, what are you doing here?"
Eleanor said angrily, "I invited my granddaughter-in-law. Do you have a problem?"
"Granddaughter-in-law?" Julian was stunned.
Isabella hurried to explain. "Great-grandma is confused. She mistook Evelyn for Mrs. Vance..."
Julian's eyes darted between the two.
He frowned deeply.
Alexander's tone intensified. "Miss Ross is a guest of Grandma and me. She will be staying at the Vance residence for some time."
Isabella's pupils contracted.
Jealousy made her eyes red.
She couldn't help speaking up. "Isn't this inappropriate? Evelyn is a murder suspect now. She'll bring trouble to the Vance family..."
Alexander said coldly, "Vance family matters are none of your concern."
Isabella bit her lip in shame and annoyance.
Julian suddenly took her hand. "Uncle, Isabella means well for the family. She is my fiancée, after all."
Isabella's heart leaped with joy.
These past few days, Julian had been ignoring her.
Now he was finally speaking up for her.
As long as she still had value, Julian wouldn't abandon her.
The most important thing now was to get Evelyn out!
She was about to say more when her phone suddenly rang.
Seeing "Liam Lowell" on the screen, Isabella immediately hung up.
"Mr. Vance, I'm not targeting Evelyn. But from a PR perspective..."
"Ring ring ring—"
The phone rang again.
Isabella hurriedly hung up.
But the phone insistently rang once more.
Julian's face was dark. "Answer the phone first!"
Isabella clenched her fist.
She gave Julian an apologetic smile and answered. "I'm busy. Can it wait..."
Liam roared, "What's more important than me?"
Isabella tried to placate him. "I really have something..."
"I don't care! Come here now! Reporters have surrounded me! Linda is calling me an ungrateful person! You're so good at sweet-talking her! Come take her away!"
Isabella bit her lip and looked at Julian.
He was rarely being nice to her. She absolutely couldn't leave today.
Otherwise, Julian would definitely reject her!
She covered the receiver. "Julian, I'll step out to take this call. I'll handle it quickly."
She quickly walked out.
Evelyn and Alexander exchanged a glance.
Alexander took out his phone and tapped a few times.
He handed her a Bluetooth earpiece.
Isabella and Liam's call immediately synced over.
"Liam, stop making a scene. I have important matters. Just endure being骂 a few times..."
"I can't endure it!" Liam roared. "Everyone is looking at me with disgust! The cafeteria lady won't even serve me food! Isabella, take me away. Let's elope!"
Isabella said impatiently, "Enough! Elope? Do you have money? Can you give me the life I have now?"
Evelyn narrowed her peach blossom eyes.
She didn't expect them to fall out so quickly.
Liam's roar came through the earpiece. "I have no money! But I can make sure you can't live in San Francisco either! The life you have now is all stolen from Evelyn Ross!!"
