Dominant!
Marcus Valentine lowered his head to look at the photo.
His fingertips had just touched the edge of the photograph when his vision blurred.
Alexander Vance snatched the photo away.
He strode out the door in pursuit.
Marcus stood frozen in place.
He stared at the man's retreating back and curled his lip.
"Ask for my help and still act this arrogant? Hmph, I'm not serving you!"
He sighed.
Back when they were studying abroad, he had seen that Alexander was extraordinary.
The man's intelligence was off the charts, learning everything quickly.
After Marcus reported to his Third Uncle, the uncle told him to learn more from Alexander.
As if Alexander was better than him.
Marcus had never accepted that.
At graduation, his Third Uncle even said if they couldn't become close friends, they should find a way to arrange a marriage alliance.
Unfortunately, the main family didn't have any suitable girls.
He and his Third Uncle picked two outstanding girls from the collateral branches.
They were adopted into his eldest uncle's line.
They wanted Alexander to choose one.
Who knew Alexander would directly refuse!
This man simply didn't put the Valentine family of New York in his eyes.
Marcus irritably shoveled two mouthfuls of noodles.
His phone suddenly vibrated.
A message from Third Uncle: [How did it go meeting Mrs. Ashcroft tonight?]
Marcus: "..."
He didn't dare say Mrs. Ashcroft had been angered into unconsciousness.
Otherwise, Third Uncle would definitely call him useless!
Thinking of the direction Alexander and Evelyn had left, he put down his chopsticks.
He stood up and walked toward the hospital.
…
Evelyn's expression had returned to calm.
She walked quickly into the hospital.
Alexander's four black-clad bodyguards were already guarding the entrance.
All four were burly and imposing.
Seeing her, they immediately bowed.
"Good evening, Madam."
Evelyn's mouth twitched.
Alexander's low voice came from behind her.
"They are all special forces. They will ensure you see Mrs. Ashcroft."
Evelyn nodded.
She took the lead.
Alexander fell half a step behind, walking at her side.
The four bodyguards exchanged glances, surprise on their faces.
The boss never yielded half a step to anyone.
This half step was enough to indicate Evelyn's status.
Their eyes held even more respect.
They followed closely behind.
The six of them moved in an impressive procession to the hospital room.
Alexander had arranged for Mrs. Ashcroft to be in a VIP suite with a separate living room.
Isabella and Julian were sitting in the living room eating takeout.
Julian looked worriedly toward the hospital room.
"Shouldn't your father eat something?"
Isabella sighed.
"Dad is too worried about Mom. He definitely won't eat until she wakes up…"
Julian thought of his own parents.
His mother waited bitterly every day for his father to come home.
Every night his father stayed over was a holiday for her.
He lowered his eyes.
"Your father is truly devoted…"
"Yes." Isabella's eyes reddened.
"Dad is the most committed man I've ever seen."
Julian suddenly took her hand.
"Isabella, I will learn from your father."
Perhaps moved by William's devotion, or finally realizing his obsession with Evelyn was wrong, he smiled bitterly.
"Liking Evelyn for four years… it's hard to let go immediately…"
Isabella said softly, "It's alright, Julian. Even a man like Dad can make mistakes."
"When I was little, I thought my parents were the most loving couple in the world."
"But after seeing Evelyn and her mother, I realized there was always a crack between them…"
Julian put his arm around her shoulders.
Hatred flashed in his eyes.
"Love children should never exist!"
Isabella nodded.
As soon as the words were spoken, the door was pushed open.
Evelyn walked in.
Isabella immediately frowned.
Julian sprang to his feet, shielding Isabella.
"Evelyn, what are you doing here again? Haven't you harmed the Ashcroft family enough?!"
Isabella's eyes were red.
"Uncle, please! I know you want to protect Aunt Evelyn."
"But my mother can't take any more exciting… the doctor said her anger overwhelmed her!"
"She's about to wake up. Can you please not disturb her?"
Evelyn looked at her coolly.
"I have no intention of disturbing Mrs. Ashcroft."
"Before she fainted, she clearly had something to say to me."
"If she tells me to leave after she wakes, I will go immediately."
Isabella sneered.
"No need to wait for Mom to wake! She's my mother! I decide. Get out now!"
Julian blocked the way in front of Isabella.
"Uncle, Evelyn, you are not going in today!"
Isabella looked at him gratefully.
"Thank you, Julian."
"Husband and wife are one. No need for thanks."
Julian's chest swelled with a sense of power.
He felt like a real man.
Evelyn couldn't be bothered with more talk.
She simply waved her hand.
Four large men in black entered.
One grabbed Julian.
He dragged him aside like a chick.
Evelyn didn't even glance at them.
She took control of the hospital room.
She strode toward Mrs. Ashcroft's bedside.
