Chloe Roland's pupils constricted violently.
That face flashed before her eyes for just an instant.
Her heart stopped beating.
Her breath froze in her chest.
She stared dead ahead.
Her fingers unconsciously clenched the hem of her clothes.
Her fingertips trembled slightly.
Was it an illusion?
Or had her longing made her sick?
The car turned the corner and disappeared.
Chloe snapped back to reality.
She grabbed Ryan Roland's arm. "Brother! Did you see that? It was our savior! It must be her!"
Her voice was choked with tears.
Her eyes were already red.
Ryan patted her hand reassuringly. "I saw. Don't panic."
"Quick, follow them!"
Chloe's voice was urgent.
Ryan nodded. "Alright."
They quickly got into the car.
The engine roared as they sped after the other vehicle.
…
Evelyn Ross was completely unaware.
She leaned against the passenger seat, her brow furrowed.
"Mina is definitely hiding something from me."
The smiling face in the video was too perfect.
It was so perfect it didn't seem real.
Alexander Vance focused on driving. "Marriage is a happy occasion."
Evelyn sighed. "I want her to be happy."
Her phone suddenly vibrated.
Evelyn looked down.
Her body instantly went rigid.
"The mission is here."
A text from an international number.
The content was brief and cold.
[First mission nearing completion. Second mission: Secure cooperation with the remaining three families in New York.]
Evelyn read it aloud.
Her expression grew serious.
"That's simply impossible."
The five great families kept each other in check.
No company had ever collaborated with three at once.
Alexander raised an eyebrow. "You know the New York situation well?"
Evelyn gave a light laugh. "I haven't been idle this past month."
The Roland family might still be a possibility.
But the Evans and Cortez families would be extremely difficult.
She rubbed her temples.
It seemed she would have to call in some favors.
The car entered the Nan family garage.
Evelyn went straight into the study.
She opened her laptop and began researching plans.
Alexander followed and sat opposite her.
But his gaze kept drifting toward Evelyn.
He suddenly remembered something.
His fingers paused on the keyboard.
She was late this month.
There had been no signs last night either.
He secretly opened a web browser and searched.
"Reasons for a late period"
The first result showed it was a normal phenomenon.
As he scrolled down, his pupils constricted.
"Possible pregnancy"
The four words slammed into his vision.
Alexander shot to his feet.
His laptop nearly crashed to the floor.
Evelyn looked up. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
Alexander's voice was hoarse.
He walked over to Evelyn.
His eyes fell on her flat stomach.
He stared for a long time without looking away.
The nanny passed by the door and shook her head with a sigh.
The master was far too clingy.
Like a large cat keeping watch.
…
Outside the Nan residence.
Ryan stopped the car.
Chloe stared at the villa, lost in thought.
Their savior actually lived here.
With Alexander Vance.
It didn't match their status.
She pushed the car door open and got out.
She took a deep breath and pressed the doorbell.
