Evelyn Ross stepped out of the elevator.
She turned and headed toward Team One.
Tyler Evans's voice came from behind her. "Miss Ross, I don't know the nature of your relationship with Mr. Vance."
"But his position within the company is not secure."
"The future leadership is still uncertain."
"I advise you not to offend Vice President Evans."
He was Julian Evans's right-hand man.
After several interactions, he had already discerned Julian's intentions.
He lowered his voice. "Aligning with Vice President Evans would improve your situation significantly."
"At the very least, he has the means to resolve your current predicament."
Evelyn gave him a cool glance.
She said nothing and walked straight into the Team One office.
Monday morning should have been a typical rush to work.
Yet the entire Team One had already assembled.
Everyone gathered in the break area, their expressions grave as they looked at Jason Lawrence and Daniel Clementson.
Jason's face was tense, his eyes dark.
Seeing Evelyn enter, everyone stood up immediately, hesitating to speak.
Daniel quickly approached her. "Evelyn, about the university..."
Before he could finish, the R&D General Manager and Julian Evans appeared at the door.
"Jason Lawrence, Evelyn Ross, Administrative is waiting for us."
Jason frowned and stood up.
He looked at Evelyn. "Let's go."
The group headed toward the elevator together.
Julian suddenly spoke. "I thought you would call me."
His tone was confident, not bothering to hide his words from the General Manager and Jason.
Evelyn narrowed her eyes but did not respond.
Julian continued. "Besides Administrative, there are two other guests today."
"The President of San Francisco University and the Dean of the Energy College."
"The Dean heard about you stealing Dr. Nan's proposal."
"He has decided to expel you. You were aware, correct?"
Jason scoffed. "Julian, how long have you been out of school?"
"Running to the teachers for everything? Haven't you been weaned yet?"
Julian sneered. "I am also an alumnus of San Francisco University."
"I cannot stand by and watch the university's reputation be tarnished."
"The President and Dean are here today to confirm the facts."
"If the allegations are true, they will not be lenient!"
"Evelyn Ross, still refusing to admit your mistake?"
Evelyn's voice was calm. "I have done nothing wrong. Why should I admit to a mistake?"
"You... truly refusing to yield until faced with undeniable proof!"
The four soon reached the Administrative Department.
Julian and the General Manager entered the conference room first.
Evelyn was about to follow when Jason suddenly patted her shoulder.
"I am your supervisor. Any problem is ultimately my responsibility."
"Even if Julian brings Dr. Nan here for a confrontation, I will stand in front of you."
After saying this, Jason wore the expression of a man marching to his doom.
He strode boldly into the conference room.
Evelyn was speechless.
She followed him inside, finding the conference room spacious.
About ten people were seated inside.
The Administrative staff looked serious and stern.
The University President and Dean sat on either side.
To Evelyn's surprise, Alexander Vance was also present in the observers' section.
The man wore a crisp suit, his shirt buttoned to the top with a matching tie.
He exuded an air of meticulousness and nobility.
Hearing the footsteps, he glanced over briefly.
His deep gaze lingered on Evelyn for a moment before moving away, as if she were a stranger.
Thomas Watson stood behind him, his face dark with anger.
He glared at Evelyn.
Evelyn smiled faintly at them, unbothered.
She understood perfectly well why the incredibly busy Alexander Vance was here.
It was because of her...
No, it was to prevent his grandmother from being upset.
She could imagine how the man would explain his presence.
The corner of her mouth lifted slightly as she walked calmly into the room.
Director Brown from Administrative spoke first. "Vice President Evans, you mentioned having witnesses and evidence?"
Evelyn also looked at Julian with curiosity.
She genuinely didn't know what this so-called evidence was.
Julian checked his phone. "They've just arrived."
As soon as he finished speaking, the door was knocked.
Tyler Evans led two people inside.
It was Isabella Ashcroft and Linda Lowell!
Evelyn's brow furrowed slightly.
Isabella looked composed.
She walked up to Julian and called out softly, "Julian."
Linda, however, seemed nervous and fidgety.
She glanced around anxiously, a flattering smile on her face.
Julian pointed at Linda. "This is my witness and evidence!"
"This is Evelyn Ross's mother."
Everyone was stunned, their eyes turning to Evelyn.
Jason nudged her. "Is that true?"
Evelyn clenched her jaw and did not answer.
Linda rushed to her. "Evelyn, Mom helping you steal the proposal has been exposed!"
"I didn't expect there to be a camera in the hospital room."
"It recorded everything. It's their evidence now!"
Isabella took out a USB drive and inserted it into the computer.
The screen displayed surveillance footage from Mrs. Ashcroft's hospital room.
Linda was seen sneaking into the room.
She secretly opened Isabella's laptop, inserted a USB drive, and performed some operations...
Isabella sighed. "I installed the camera only to record the doctors' medication times."
"I never expected to capture this."
"Evelyn, how could you let your mother steal for you?"
Linda quickly bowed her head in admission. "It was my fault. Evelyn knew nothing about this."
"I saw her working so hard and wanted to help her."
"This has nothing to do with her..."
"I'm sorry. She just graduated and wanted to make a good impression."
"As her mother, I couldn't bear to see her struggle."
She looked around the room.
Suddenly, she fell to her knees with a thud.
"Please, I beg you, don't punish Evelyn."
"Punish me instead. Don't call the police..."
"Give Evelyn another chance!"
Director Brown hurried forward to help her up. "Please, stand up first..."
Linda cried and shook her head. "I won't get up until the company forgives Evelyn..."
Sighs were heard around the room. "The heart of a parent is truly pitiable..."
Julian looked at Evelyn arrogantly. "The evidence is irrefutable. Do you have anything to say?"
Isabella watched the scene with amusement.
She knew the moment Linda appeared, this imperfect evidence became perfect.
How could there possibly be a mother in this world who would frame her own daughter?
If Evelyn denied it, people would only despise her more for shirking responsibility.
The Vance Group would never tolerate such an employee.
It was a checkmate.
All eyes were fixed on Evelyn.
Yet she remained calm, standing with her head slightly bowed.
She even took out her phone and glanced at it.
A WhatsApp notification sounded.
A message from James Klein: [Boss, I'm almost there!]
