The entire R&D Team One was stunned.
Jason Lawrence's words made their brains short-circuit.
"Team Lead, are you running a fever?"
"Dr. Nan is here? Where?"
"Evelyn is Dr. Nan? Stop joking…"
"She's so young, how could she possibly…"
Voices of doubt rose one after another.
Evelyn Ross calmly looked at Jason Lawrence.
She extended her hand.
"Let me reintroduce myself. I am Dr. Nan."
The air instantly solidified.
Daniel Clementson was the first to jump up.
"Junior?! Say that again?!"
Everyone froze in place.
Evelyn's gaze swept over the group.
These past few days, she had felt a level of support she'd never experienced before.
Misunderstandings were quickly cleared up.
The subsequent unwavering support moved her even more.
The corners of her lips lifted slightly.
"Thank you all for your care. Feel free to come to me with any technical issues in the future."
Since her identity was exposed, she couldn't stay any longer.
She had obtained the medical materials. It was time to leave.
While everyone was still in shock, she took two steps back.
She turned and left with James Klein.
Jason instinctively took a step to follow.
Then he stopped abruptly.
He suddenly felt annoyed.
His reaction upon learning she was Dr. Nan had been terrible!
Would it leave a bad impression?
He turned back and saw his team members, each one dumbfounded.
Their expressions grew more exaggerated by the second.
It wasn't until Evelyn entered the elevator that everyone suddenly snapped out of it.
"Ahhh! Evelyn is Dr. Nan!"
"I worked with Dr. Nan!"
"She said we can ask her for help! We're practically friends!"
The group suddenly rushed towards Evelyn's workstation.
They scrambled to grab the things she left behind.
"Dr. Nan's pen!"
"Dr. Nan's draft paper!"
"Dr. Nan's paper cup…"
Team One instantly descended into madness.
Jason watched them and, for once, didn't scold anyone.
Compared to this crowd, he seemed perfectly normal.
…
Administrative Department conference room.
The moment Evelyn left, Alexander Vance gave a direct order.
"Call the police."
Linda Lowell's face instantly turned pale.
She had just been out of prison for two days!
Director Brown hesitated.
"Mr. Vance, calling the police could damage the company's reputation. We weren't planning to make this a big issue…"
Even if Evelyn's guilt was confirmed, it would have been handled internally.
Alexander shot her a cold glance.
Director Brown immediately lowered her head.
"Yes."
Linda hurriedly cried out.
"Mr. Vance, is it illegal for me to steal from my own daughter? The victim isn't even pressing charges, why call the police?"
Alexander's gaze was icy.
"You stole Vance Group's core technology. This involves theft of commercial secrets. She may not pursue it, but the company will."
Linda was stunned.
"Commercial secrets? Could I go to jail?"
Alexander's voice was low.
"According to Section 219 of the Criminal Code, serious cases carry a sentence of three to ten years."
Linda was dumbfounded.
"It's that serious?"
Director Brown gave Mr. Vance a strange look.
This incident hadn't caused any actual losses. Was Mr. Vance trying to scare her?
Alexander continued.
"If you were instructed or deceived, your sentence could be reduced. So, was someone诱导 you to steal?"
Everyone looked at Isabella Ashcroft.
They weren't fools.
How would a fifty-year-old, disconnected from society, understand new energy?
Clearly, Isabella was behind it.
Director Brown understood.
Any normal person would try to implicate Isabella to avoid blame…
But then she heard Linda shout.
"No! Isabella didn't know! I did it all! It has nothing to do with her!"
Isabella's eyes reddened as she questioned.
"Aunt Linda, if you hate Evelyn and want revenge, don't drag me into this!"
She lowered her head to wipe her tears, but a sharp glint flashed in her eyes.
She had prepared a backup plan.
She had only made suggestive remarks the entire time.
Linda didn't even know the whole story about her background…
She had simply picked Linda up from prison and "unintentionally" vented her frustrations on the way.
She detailed the bet between Evelyn and Julian Evans.
She ended apologetically.
"Aunt Linda, why am I telling you all this? I'm just upset. Dr. Nan isn't responding. Evelyn's proposal is ready… Julian might call off the engagement. Forget it, let's just accept our fate."
Linda immediately took it upon herself to steal the proposal.
She found a way to transfer it to Isabella's computer.
Isabella wasn't involved at all!
When the police arrived, as long as Linda didn't implicate her, she would be fine.
Sure enough, the police only took Linda away.
But Isabella didn't relax.
What she was truly worried about was Julian!
Julian's face was ashen.
Even though Isabella wasn't taken away, everyone understood what had happened.
The look Director Brown gave him was full of suspicion.
She thought he and Isabella were in cahoots…
He couldn't defend himself!
Furious, Julian turned and left.
Isabella hurriedly chased after him.
"Julian, let me explain…"
After they left, Alexander watched their retreating figures.
His gaze was profound.
Why was Linda so protective of Isabella?
He suddenly said to Thomas Watson.
"Isabella seems more like Linda's daughter."
