Evelyn was still thinking about Chloe Roland and was distracted.
Ryan Roland called out, and she instinctively stopped walking.
Alexander Vance quickly stepped in front of her, blocking Ryan's line of sight.
This action only made Ryan more suspicious.
Alexander looked at Ryan, whose eyes were full of curiosity.
Evelyn didn't look back and got directly into the car.
As the car passed Ryan, Evelyn glanced at him.
After leaving the Roland residence, Evelyn looked at Alexander. "Did he find out?"
Alexander's tone was calm. "He only suspects. There's no evidence."
Evelyn frowned.
Alexander added, "Ryan is smart. Even if he found out, he wouldn't say anything."
Evelyn nodded.
...
They didn't return to the Nan family. Instead, they went to the Sherwood residence.
Mina Sherwood was trying on wedding dresses today.
As her best friend, Evelyn naturally went to help her choose.
After parking the car, Alexander didn't get out. "You go ahead. I have work to handle."
He didn't want to see the Sherwood family again.
Evelyn understood and entered alone.
Mina was now the focus of the Sherwood family. Evelyn passed through without any obstacles.
The banquet hall was filled with wedding dresses. Managers from various brands waited respectfully.
It was like a wedding dress exhibition.
Evelyn looked at Mina in surprise.
Mina sighed helplessly. "My uncle and the Valentine family arranged this. They said I shouldn't tire myself out since I'm pregnant."
Evelyn fell silent.
This was the extravagance of high society.
Mina felt conflicted.
Her parents treated her as a tool to climb into the Valentine family.
She wasn't happy.
Evelyn noticed her low spirits and pointed to a dress. "Try this one? It would suit your long neck."
Mina wasn't very interested. "Let's go with this one."
She quickly chose a wedding dress and dismissed the other brands.
She then said to the staff, "Help my friend choose a bridesmaid dress."
Evelyn was stunned. "I'm divorced and have a child. Isn't it inappropriate?"
Mina insisted. "Divorced means single. We promised to be each other's bridesmaids."
Evelyn nodded. "Okay."
She chose a simple white dress that wouldn't overshadow the bride.
It took only ten minutes.
Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood hurried over. "You've chosen already?"
Mina said lightly, "Any dress would look the same."
Mr. Sherwood agreed. "My daughter is naturally beautiful. She would look good in anything."
He then looked toward the door. "Didn't Young Master Valentine say he would come to choose together?"
Mina lowered her eyes. "He's busy. He won't come. Just have the clothes tailored to his measurements and sent to the Valentine residence."
Mr. and Mrs. Sherwood exchanged a look but said nothing more.
Evelyn accompanied Mina back to her room and asked softly, "Mina, are you happy?"
Mina's eyes reddened.
No one had asked her if she was happy.
Everyone thought she was marrying above her status by wedding Marcus Valentine.
Only Grace truly cared about her.
Evelyn held her hand. "Marcus didn't even come to try on the wedding clothes. Let's call off the wedding."
Mina shook her head. "I'm willing to marry him."
The door suddenly opened, and Mrs. Sherwood walked in.
She smiled at Mina. "Mina, the Valentine family wants Penelope Valentine to be a bridesmaid."
Mina nodded. "There are six spots in the bridal party. She can join."
Mrs. Sherwood glanced at Evelyn and added, "Your uncle's daughter will also be a bridesmaid, and Chloe Roland... So Grace's status might not be enough..."
She looked at Evelyn. "Grace, you and Mina are good friends. You understand, right?"
Evelyn raised an eyebrow.
Was Mrs. Sherwood asking her to step down voluntarily?
